Every holiday season, millions of us settle in to watch another Christmas movie.
We know how the story will probably end. There will be snow-covered trees, glowing cabin windows, long walks through the woods, crackling fires, hot cocoa, and two people who discover that slowing down together was exactly what they needed. Maybe that's why we keep watching.
Not because we expect life to be exactly like the movies, but because they remind us how we hope Christmas can feel. What if, for a few days, it could?

Hidden among the towering pines of the Eastern Pocono Mountains are five historic log cabins that already feel like the setting of one of those stories. Long before the Christmas trees arrive, the cabins, the woods, the brook, and the quiet create the kind of place many people imagine only exists on a movie set. Then, each holiday season, Christmas quietly finds its way inside and out.
The harvest colors give way to evergreen garland. Woodland touches become Christmas traditions. Cozy layers become warmer still. Every cabin is thoughtfully transformed, not simply decorated, until stepping through the front door feels less like checking into a cabin and more like stepping into the Christmas getaway you always hoped existed.

You get to live inside it.
This Hallmark Christmas Story Becomes Your Own
In romantic Christmas movies, the setting is never just something happening in the background. The cabin, the firelight, the snow outside the window and the tree glowing in the corner all help create the feeling that, for a little while, the rest of the world has fallen away.

That is what makes a Christmas-season stay at Babbling Brook Cottages feel so different. Many holiday experiences are meant to be shared with a room, a town or a gathering of people. Here, you unlock the door to your own little cabin in the forest, and the entire Christmas setting belongs to you.

It is simply the two of you inside a historic log cabin that has been transformed for the season. You can make dinner together beneath the Christmas lights, pour a glass of wine, settle beneath a blanket and leave the movie playing long after you have stopped watching it.

The moments do not need to be planned because the setting has already done so much of the work. Old wood walls glow in the light of the tree. The woods grow darker and stiller outside. A familiar Christmas song sounds different inside a cabin built generations ago.
Even an ordinary evening in November, December or early January can begin to feel like a scene you somehow stepped into together.

That may be the real reason so many of us return to romantic Christmas movies year after year. We are not only watching two people fall in love. We are imagining what it might feel like to step away from everything else and find ourselves alone together in a place where Christmas seems to have been waiting for us.
At Babbling Brook Cottages, that feeling is not limited to Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. It lives here throughout the season.
What It Feels Like Once You Are Here
Your Own Christmas Cabin in the WoodsÂ
Each of our five historic cottages is transformed for the season, but no two feel exactly the same. Every cabin has its own tree, colors, textures and Christmas personality, thoughtfully carried through the rooms rather than added in one corner.
You are not visiting a holiday display and then returning to an ordinary room. You are staying inside the Christmas setting for a few days, with the woods just beyond the windows and the entire cabin belonging to the two of you.
A Private Firepit beneath the PinesÂ
Every cottage has its own outdoor fire area, with complimentary firewood waiting for your stay. You can wrap yourselves in a blanket, warm your hands beside the flames, toast marshmallows and let the evening grow dark around you.
Christmas Movies without leaving Your CabinÂ
Hallmark Channel access is included, so the movies that helped inspire the getaway can remain part of it. Let one play while dinner cooks, settle in together after the fire, or spend an entire slow afternoon watching familiar stories beneath the glow of the tree. Here, the cabin outside the television may begin to feel just as memorable as the one on the screen.
The Poconos At Chritmas, When You Choose to Step OutÂ
The cabin can be the entire reason for the stay, but seasonal experiences are nearby when you feel like exploring. Holiday lights, small-town shops, winter scenery and mountain traditions are within an easy drive. You can spend part of the day out in the Poconos, then return to your own glowing cabin in the woods when you are ready.
Thoughtfully Prepared Before You ArriveÂ
The tree is decorated. The seasonal bedding is in place. The firewood is ready. The lights are glowing, and the small details have already been considered. For a few days, you do not have to create the Christmas feeling. You simply get to live inside it.
Christmas is Waiting
Christmas is not one day here. It begins as the chill is just starting the season, glows through the heart of December and lingers into the stillness of early January.
For nearly ten weeks, the trees are lit, the cabins glow, the blankets are changed, the firewood is stacked and the woods quietly wait for the next couple to arrive.
Some guests come while the anticipation is still building. Others want to be surrounded by Christmas at its fullest in December. Some wait until the days after the holidays, when the lights remain but life has begun to slow again.
There is not just one perfect time to experience it. There is not just one magical weekend. Whenever you choose to visit during these ten weeks, Christmas is waiting.

Before you go -
Is this experience designed for couples?
Yes. Babbling Brook Cottages has always been a place where couples come to slow down, reconnect and enjoy a few peaceful days together surrounded by the woods.
What makes a Christmas cabin stay feel like a Hallmark movie?
It's more than the decorations. It's the feeling of stepping into a fully transformed historic log cabin where the pace slows, the lights glow, and the only thing on your schedule is spending time together.
Are all five cabins fully decorated for Christmas?
Yes. Every historic cabin is thoughtfully transformed for the Christmas season. No two are exactly alike, allowing returning guests to experience a different Christmas cabin each time they visit.
When does the Christmas Experience take place?
Each year, the Babbling Brook Cottages Christmas Experience begins in early November and continues into January, giving guests nearly ten weeks to enjoy the season. Current dates and this year's cabin themes can always be found on our Christmas Experience page.
Do we need to stay during Christmas week?
Not at all. Some guests love visiting while the excitement of the season is building in November. Others choose the heart of December, while many return in early January when the cabins are still glowing and they are not quite ready for the Christmas feeling to end.
How far in advance should we reserve?
Our Christmas cabins are one of the most requested experiences each year, and many weekends book months to a full year in advance. If you already have a particular cabin or dates in mind, we recommend planning early.
