Our Story
Hello from Lamar and Terri. First, we never planned to own five historic log cabins.
In 2019, Lamar found a dining room chandelier on Facebook Marketplace that we thought might work in Terri's home. The listing was missing a few details, so he called the owner to ask about its size and specifications.
During that conversation, the owner said, "You don't have to buy just the light. You can buy the whole property." Neither of us had ever heard of Babbling Brook Cottages, but one unexpected statement changed the direction of our lives.

Becoming the Next Stewards
In late July 2020, Lamar became the owner of Babbling Brook Cottages. We stepped into hospitality with no previous experience and no carefully written plan. What we did have was a deep respect for old places and a belief that these cabins deserved to be cared for.
Originally built in the late 1930s and early 1940s as a private family retreat, the cabins were created as a place to escape city life, spend time beside the waterfalls of George W. Childs Park, and enjoy the cooler mountain air beneath the Pocono trees. Nearly a century later, that purpose still inspires us. Rather than changing what made the property special, we have worked to preserve its character while thoughtfully improving the comfort and experience for today's guests.
What We Learned
When we first started, we thought we were just restoring historic cabins. Instead, they slowly changed the way we thought about hospitality. Clean cabins, comfortable beds, dependable amenities, and careful maintenance all matter. They are the foundation of a wonderful stay. But over time we realized something even more important.
The way a place makes you feel often becomes what you remember most.
That belief now guides nearly every decision we make. It influences how the cabins change with the seasons, how we prepare for every arrival, and how we think about comfort, atmosphere, and the countless small details guests never consciously notice.
More Than a Place to Stay

Today, we live here with Stella, our rescued Great Dane, and are hands on every part of Babbling Brook Cottages. We answer the phone calls, chats and emails, welcome guests, prepare the cabins, care for the grounds, continue improving the property, and work together to create the kind of experience we would hope to find ourselves.
Our goal has never been to create simply another cabin rental. We hope every guest feels valued, feels cared for, and leaves in a better state than when they arrived. If that happens, then we have shared something far more meaningful than a place to stay.
We have shared a place that becomes part of someone's story.
